"87" House Number

A house warming present for my Step-Brother and his Partner for the house that they had just bought. I made sure to centre the preferences of my clients by sending them a form to ascertain the font, type of wood, and base shape that they wanted, opting for a serif font number with an Ebony died Ash base, and Pine inlaid numbers. I made a first version, however I struggles with making the inlaid letters from the very soft pine, and using a hand router freehand, As well as coming into an issue with the penetration of the wood dye. I then made a second iteration, where again I came into issues with routing out the numbers accurately, and with a consistently deep cut. I eventually landed on a design which had a 3D effect with the Ash numbers sitting on top of the dyed base.
